Details of the proposal
Project descriptionGirgit, a tool for transliteration between the Indian scripts has been released under the GPL. It is worth investigating whether it can be integrated to the Konkani and Sanskrit Wikipedias, which have multiple writing scripts.[1][2] The word Girgit means Chameleon in Hindi.

New features to requireGirgit seems to be written in Java based on the Git archive at Google Code. I don't know how well this will integrate into MediaWiki software, so another user will have to evaluate this.
