Hi there. I am an active user on Meta using the translation extension on Special:LanguageStats. I also have an account on translatewiki.net but don't spend as much time translating over there. I understand the translation extension and have read the documentation a long time ago. Here on Meta, I am autopatrolled because of my trusted translations and helping other users. Along with Meta, I am also active on Wikipedia as a reviewer and rollbacker. You say that you read the documentation a long time ago, though your account is less than one month ago. That would indicate to me that you had a previous existence under another username. @MF-Warburg: As a translation administrator, I would mark pages for translation, and after someone makes changes to the page, I will mark the page for translation again so translators can update the translations. I will decide when the page is ready for translation the first time and will ensure that the segmentation serves a purpose and approve (or correct) changes.   - @MF-Warburg: Akifumii has experience with translations, and said (s)he would find marking for translation useful above. He has read the documentation, so he knows how to mark pages with <translate>. May I ask if there is any reason you are so skeptical of this request?     One month's existence seems a very quick escalation into administration tools of any rank, and is an awfully short term to be able to make an assessment that includes the right to delete works. I would prefer to see a longer term activity.     Okay, maybe my misunderstanding or poor documentation, however when the page Special:PageTranslationDeletePage says The action you have requested is limited to users in the group: Translation administrators.     @Billinghurst: I tested it on a Vagrant installation. It seems that both rights are required; neither alone is sufficient. I checked the code too; it seem to check for two rights: 'delete', 'pagetranslation'. The error is misleading. This group does not allow deletion, but if you have the right to delete already, it allows deleting translations using that interface. PiRSquared17 (talk) 21:54, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose I believe this is well-intentioned, but I'm not sure he/she is prepared. I would recommend trying more of those complex translations and preparation for translations that include things like variables and lists, and asking and working with existing translation admins as their help is needed. I have quickly checked the translation work Akifumii did, and I haven't found visible evidence for me to comfortably support the nomination at this time - actually most of what I saw are short ones such as section titles. I am not sure if Akifumii understands what kind of mess a translation admin could potentially create (with the mass updates via FuzzyBot), and how to avoid that. None of the mess a translation admin can do is irreversible, but some are very tedious to restore, even if well-intentioned. whym (talk) 06:20, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- @Whym: I would like to throw out there that PiRSquared17 is a Translation administrator. I looked at his contributions and the translations completed by this user are not very complicated nor long. What is the difference between him and me?
  I am not a translator. Most of my translation edits are importing translations or minor fixes. I'm not even very active with translation adminship currently, but I assure you I used to be. How is that relevant? PiRSquared17 (talk) 21:30, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  
  @PiRSquared17: I now understand you are not a translator. I was also never a translation administrator. Whym stated that I needed to translate longer pieces of text for him to support my request for translation adminship. This is why it is relevant.
I oppose this request as well. Per Whym [FuzzyBot stuff is real, and doesn't seem to be known by the candidate], and because the behaviour of the candidate in this request makes me uncomfortable. There seems to be a too great focus on obtaining rights atm. --MF-W 22:50, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Even before this request I knew FuzzyBot was real. FuzzyBot is a bot used by the Translation administrators. The bot updates translations when the source page is changed, marks outdated translations, and deletes translation pages requested by the translation administrators.
