This is to fix the HTML error and clear the parent page from Category:Pages using invalid self-closed HTML tags. Thank you. — xaosflux Talk 15:09, 12 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Done. Thanks and regards.--Syum90 (talk) 15:20, 12 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

CentralAuth link[edit]

@JSutherland (WMF): I had to ask for a reversion of your change here for the time being. ACC uses the links API to make sure people remain identified to use the tool. The edit you made effectively disables everyone's access. One simple way around this would be to just add the CentralAuth link right after the user link. Is this something we could compromise on at least for now until we can find a new way to get the list of users on that page? @Stwalkerster: -- Amanda (aka DQ) 16:16, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@AmandaNP: No worries on the revert, thanks for letting me know. If it's required to make a tool work I don't need to change it, I just figure the Meta-Wiki links aren't useful for those who need to learn more about the people on the noticeboard for whatever reason... It's not a big deal though, really. Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 18:06, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@JSutherland (WMF): It's definitely useful, so I'll suggest this instead? If you like it, it will work for us.
* <span id="{{{2}}}"></span><small class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:m:|diff={{{1}}}&diffonly=yes}} diff]</small> [[{{{3|}}}:User:{{{2}}}|{{#if:1|{{{2}}}}}]] ([[{{{3|}}}:Special:CentralAuth/{{{2}}}|CentralAuth]])<noinclude>
This won't stop the linking and provide the centralauth link too. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 18:48, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@AmandaNP: Cool, that's a good workaround - I've made the change, please ping if it does end up breaking stuff. Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 19:51, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Adding a "renamed from" parameter[edit]

Hey AmandaNP and Stwalkerster - I am thinking about adding a "renamed from" parameter to this template to make additions like these more internally consistent. If I just add this at the end as an optional parameter, will that break things like ACC in a similar way to our change a couple years ago (above)? cc NahidSultan (WMF). Joe Sutherland (Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 17:24, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@JSutherland (WMF): We use the action=query&prop=links API for this (source), so as long as that still returns a link to the userpage of the user after your change, we should be fine.
If you want to verify post-change, https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&format=jsonfm&prop=links&titles=Access%20to%20nonpublic%20personal%20data%20policy%2FNoticeboard&pltitles=User%3AStwalkerster should have a "links" section with "User:Stwalkerster" in the title attribute. stwalkerster (talk) 18:48, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
