Just a comment: there's no need to rename the #wikia-* channels since Angela is the contact for #wikia, not Essjay, and I am the contact for #wikia-antivandalism and #wikia-antivandalism-no. :)

Otherwise, very good proposal, I agree with it for the most part. --Roosa (Talk) 20:05, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

There kinda is... All the CVN channels should be under the same name, that way we can file a GCF for all of them and get staff help like that. Cbrown1023 talk 22:27, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

It's a nice proposal, small changes will obviously need to be made as time goes on. I think this sould be incorporated. DTGardner 18:18, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Fa

I'd like to inform you about the exitance of a channel named #wikipedia-fa-rc, which is created to mimic the cvn channels of other wikis. It is not a very active channel, yet it is useful. Whether it should be considered in the cvn series os not is, perhaps, beyond my knowledge. Anyways, I'm the contact person of that channel and will be glad to help in any ways, if needed. Huji 19:03, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Your channel is welcome into the network. If you don't mind, it will be renamed to #cvn-wp-fa to match our namespace. One benefit is that the network staff will standardize the technical settings, ensure that you always have an active bot, help maintain order, help with any problems or questions, et cetera. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:09:44, 03 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. Please let me know if there is something I should do. Huji 23:24, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

User page links

Someone ought to go through each of the user page links, and link them up to the relevant project - e.g. Wikia ops should link to their Wikia pages. Staff should link to Meta, or maybe the CVN wiki if that's more appropriate. If you can't work out who a certain user is, you could ask them, and if they don't even have an account on the wiki, you could wonder why they have ops in a channel for a wiki they don't even edit ;) Majorly (talk) 20:31, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Moving #vandalism-fr-wp to #cvn-wp-fr

Hello. The main countervandalism IRC channel for the French-language Wikipedia is located at irc://irc.freenode.net/vandalism-fr-wp. I'd suggest we move it to irc://irc.freenode.net/cvn-wp-fr to follow the CVN standardization. Nothing else would change. Thoughts? guillom 11:18, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

As long as nothing else changes, no problem. However, #vandalism-fr-wp has its own set of (rather permissive) access rights, which may conflict with cvn policy. --Gribeco 13:59, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
On a second thought, you're right. I am not confident at all with subjugating this channel to this group. guillom 14:22, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Can you add this word to the #cvn-wikia WikiaRC Autoflag Notice

I know it auto flags the regular version of the N-Word but it does not auto flag the 5 letter variant of the N-Word. So this needs to be fixed. I am displaying the notice at the wrong spot please help me or you guys can talk to the right people in getting this fixed. The WikiaRC bot will flag certain words as "Used Edit Summary:<flagged word here>".

Here is a page replace notice I got from my feed on #wikifur-edits on Freenode:

[15:17] <Saw5AV> IP User:86.165.196.121 page replace Yiff with "NIGGA PLEASE" (-4560) Diff: http://furry.wikia.com/index.php?title=Yiff&diff=224962&oldid=220097&rcid=234014

I hope this gets fixed as its very like when they are using that word in the edit summary that its likely vandalism. Sawblade5 21:43, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Done. --Charitwo 22:09, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Also please add "Nazi" as a possible flag. Edit Log:

[21:02] <Saw5AV> IP User:24.255.152.14 page replace Chakat with "If you re-edit this you are a nazi" (-3414) Diff: http://furry.wikia.com/index.php?title=Chakat&diff=225020&oldid=225018&rcid=234073

OK, Sawblade5 06:38, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

You should request voice so you can do this yourself. Alternatively, please ask someone who is voiced in IRC.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 18:23, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Status report

Do we really need this section on changes which were made in 2007 and have long since been completed?  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 03:51, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Probably some of the info just under the Channel settings standardization section can be removed too.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 03:52, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

CVNbots triggers

Hi!, I don't know if I'm in the right place so forgive if I'm not. I've noticed the CVNbots are triggered by specific words and notify the use of them in summary (like "pirate" or "shit" etc). Is it possible that some similar greek words are added? (I can provide a list of them). Thank you. --Egmontaz talk 16:55, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Anyone voiced in a CVN channel can do this for you. Ask in IRC  — mikelifeguard@meta:~$  15:41, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Countervandalism IRC Channels

I've started a discussion here (following a discussion in IRC) about the CVN IRC channels used to monitor, amongst others, EN Wikibooks and whether they should be merged into the "small wikis" channel to facilitate monitoring by Global Sysops. Further comments welcome. QU TalkQu 11:41, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
