A donation, however voluntary, is not free from injustuce if it involves deception. A fundrasing campaign, just by being run, involves certain assumptions, which may become deceptive in light of financial facts. SmallJarsWithGreenLabels (talk) 14:58, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Subscription mention[edit]

Would it be possible to lose the phrase "We choose not to charge a subscription fee, but that doesn't mean we don't need support from our readers." in Email 1?

It makes it sound as if charging Indian users a subscription fee were an option.

The very mission statement of the Wikimedia Foundation makes the commitment that The Foundation will make and keep useful information from its projects available on the internet free of charge, in perpetuity.

Based on your feedback we will change this copy to "There is no subscription fee to access content on Wikipedia, but that doesn't mean we don't need support from our readers." You should see this in the India emails and in our email copy going forward. DBu-WMF (talk) 17:00, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
