Accreditations and editorial credentials

When acting on behalf of Wikipedia or its sister projects, you can gain privileged access to events with a press accreditation – as a volunteer and without a press pass. If you regularly make your photos available via Wikimedia Commons and have experience with event photography, then this offer is perfect for you.

Offer

Accreditations – for example, for sporting and cultural events – usually include free access to the event and often to areas that are not accessible to the general public. To get an accreditation, an editorial credential can also be helpful. The German-language Wikimedia organizations are happy to support you in this regard, presuming regular participation. This is usually determined based on the right to vote in de-Wikipedia.

Approach

If you are interested, follow the guidelines described below. You can also contact us directly if you still have questions. Your contact is the Wikimedia organization of the country where you reside. If you would like to attend a music festival to take pictures, you should get in touch with the volunteer-organized Festivalsommer (in German only).

We’ll gladly provide you with an editorial credential and help you to get a hold of your own accreditation. To this end, we can make additional resources like e-mail addresses and business cards available to you.

We’re pleased to advise you - just contact community@wikimedia.de.

Please upload media files (or a quality-based selection) created with the support of Wikimedia Deutschland to Wikimedia Commons and send us a link to the category. Please insert the template {{Supported by Wikimedia Deutschland}} on the file description pages.

The support guidelines of Wikimedia Deutschland apply.

When possible, we’re happy to take care of your accreditation with the organizer ourselves. Our inquiries are documented here.

Please reach out to verein@wikimedia.at and let us know the event you would like to visit with an accreditation and for what purpose. In consultation with you, we’ll arrange for everything else.

Please upload any media files created with our support (or a quality-based selection) to Wikimedia Commons. We accept all licenses permitted on Wikimedia Commons. Please use the template {{Supported by Wikimedia Österreich}} on the respective file description pages.

The support guidelines of Wikimedia Österreich apply.

When it comes to individual requests, we are happy to arrange for your accreditation with the organizer. If you regularly visit events with accreditations, we would like to enable you to take care of this on your own. We can therefore make additional resources available to you like e-mail addresses and business cards.

In both instances, please contact info@wikimedia.ch at your earliest opportunity. Tell us the event you would like to visit with an accreditation, for what purpose, and let us advise you.

Documentation

Please tell us and others about your experiences, for example on a subpage of your user page and link to it here (in German only). By doing so, you will on the one hand help the Wikimedia organizations to understand the benefits of the support initiative; on the other, your experiences can be helpful to others.
