Software grants
Special software can be an important requirement for creating open content and is also often associated with high costs. That's why the German-language Wikimedia chapters offer support as needed.
Offer

If special programs are helpful in your efforts on behalf of open knowledge, you can obtain a software grant for any kind of application – from photo or map workshops to the Wiki project Videos for Wikipedia or even for entirely different purposes. The software grant may be awarded to anyone who contributes actively and on a regular basis to Wikipedia or any of its sister projects. This is usually determined based on the right to vote in de-Wikipedia.

If you would like to obtain a software grant, send an e-mail to the Wikimedia organization of the country where you reside, describing the software you need and what you plan to do with it.

Files created with a software grant should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons according to the process described in Category:Supported by Wikimedia Deutschland.

If you are interested, please send an e-mail to community@wikimedia.de.

The support guidelines of Wikimedia Deutschland apply.

Files created with a software grant should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and furnished with the reference {{Supported by Wikimedia Österreich}} on the respective file description pages.

If you are interested, please send an e-mail to verein@wikimedia.at.

The support guidelines of Wikimedia Österreich apply.

Files created with a software grant should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and furnished with the reference {{Supported by Wikimedia CH}} on the respective file description pages.

If you are interested, please send an e-mail to info@wikimedia.ch

The reimbursement guidelines of Wikimedia CH apply.

Tip: Have you already checked whether your applications can also be run on free software? Powerful tools exist for many areas, e.g. Gimp in image editing. This consideration is not crucial, however, when applying for a software grant.

With an Adobe account, Wikipedia alias e-mail addresses such as your.name@wikipedia.de may not work.

Documentation
Please tell us and others about your experiences, for example on a sub-page of your user page and link them here (in German only). By doing so, you will on the one hand help the Wikimedia organizations to understand the benefits of the support initiative; on the other, your experiences can be helpful to others.
