Mr. Patricio Lorente

Wikimedia Argentina

President

Dear Mr. Lorente,

We address you in order to declare our support and delight about the bid to hold Wikimania 2009 in Buenos Aires.

Our organization, Vía Libre Foundation, involved for years with free culture, free software and free knowledge, is committed to help, contribute and support to the best of our possibilities, in case the bid is chosen.

Vía Libre is a non-profit non-governmental organization incorporated in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, with activities all over the region, with allies and partnerships in Latin America and Europe. Vía Libre is member of several European Union projects and consortiums, working in the field of free software, civil rights in digital environments, access to culture and knowledge, and other areas linked to discussions about the information age. In that sense, we have experience organizing events, public relations, press contacts and publications. We offer to Wikimedia Argentina this experience and our willingness to cooperate with the holding of Wikimania 2009 in Buenos Aires.

In the same way we are going to be the institutional support to DebConf08 (the annual conference of Debian developers) this year, we are willing to be with and support Wikimedia Argentina in this endeavor.

Finally, we congratulate the team for this initiative and hope for a favorable resolution in order to start working together in the organization of this event that will help us to accomplish our mission of free culture dissemination on our country and throughout the region.
