Wikimedia Sabah Meetup 25 (the 108th Wikipedia meetup in Malaysia) was the 25th meetup in Sabah, Malaysia. The meetup was held on:

Minutes of meeting[edit]

  • Members of Wikimedia CUG Malaysia gathered for 6 days in Kota Kinabalu for a meetup in conjunction with organizing the ESEAP Conference 2024.
  • We mostly discussed on the current status of Wikimedia projects actively contributed by WCUGM members.
  • In Wikimedia Incubator, WCUGM members have worked diligently to ensure a smooth launching of the Central Dusun (Kadazandusun) Wikipedia or dtp.wikipedia. At time of writing, the project is still in progress for imminent approval but not officially approved yet. Full launch is expected to occur at the end of May 2024 and possibly celebrated during the Kaamatan festival in Sabah.
  • The West Coast Bajau (Bajausama) Wikipedia or bdr.wikipedia is also on track for approval, but application for approval is still recent and thus, full launch is expected to take several months. Full launch is expected to occur in August 2024 and possibly celebrated during the World Indigenous People's Symposium by IIUM.
  • Several WCUGM members will convene in Katowice, Poland for Wikimania Conference 2024, while several others will convene in the World Indigenous People's Symposium, which are both going to be held in August 2024.
  • For Malay Wikipedia, several updates to the site were suggested to better improve formatting such as template updates, article-naming policy updates, mainpage design updates, and updates to old stub articles through workshops and editathons.
  • For Malay Wiktionary, several updates to the site were suggested to better improve the user interface such as template updates, basic templates for specific languages based on the needs of the languages, simplification of templates to allow new users to easily input new lemmas without too much hassle.
  • For Malay Wikisource, as the project was just recently launched, many updates are required such as transcription policies, mainpage design, namespace translations, document uploads. At least two post-incubator launch workshops and editathons are planned to improve the project.
