[Building the ESEAP Repository of Municipal Laws][edit]

Abstract/description[edit]

Its true that laws are boring due to its power to regulate human rights and freedom. But just as it regulates, it also protects people from abuse and injustice. The old adage that ignorance of the law excuses no one from compliance therewith can still be found in the civil laws of each country or territory. This idea is to leave our national laws as we normally access them from books, judicial records and publications and in academic textbooks. What is rarely uploaded on the internet are the local laws, municipal laws that are legislated and implemented in towns, cities and provinces. Oftentimes, these cannot easily be found. So the tendency is for people, whether they are locals or visitors, tourists or foreigners are not aware of prohibitory or mandatory laws.

This is the reason why local laws or municipal laws as they are sometimes called - deserve to be in Wikipedia,in Wikisource and in WikiCommons, just like any other body of knowledge. And an ESEAP repository for Municipal Laws is one great campaign for a collaboration beyond borders, beyond territories, beyond communities as we are all bound to abide by these mandates and legislations as responsible members of the society.
