Abstract/description[edit]

The Wikipedia community in Aotearoa New Zealand is at the stage of forming projects. This talk will be a snapshot of some projects including the Lisa's experimental Wikipedia Reading and Writing Book Club - Wellington.

Relationship to ESEAP or to the theme[edit]

More collaborators with a growing community of practice is desired and there are a number of initiatives being trialed. The Wikipedia Reading and Writing Book Club is one of these. It is intended to support new and emerging Pasifika and Māori editors and uses the arts as a focus point.

Other great projects going on in Aotearoa New Zealand are the Thesis Project of Username:Dr Thneed, an effort to upgrade articles on our national parks and many more.

Username/s[edit]

I have been editing on Wikipedia since 2019. My love of doing Wikipedia is learning new things by creating content especially the arts and the history of New Zealand. I work in performing arts as a designer and organiser. I am a Pākehā or white New Zealander, born in the country in the capital Wellington. I keenly interested in how our colonial history is expressed in Wikipedia.
