Wikisource Loves Manuscripts: A Partnership Perspective on Collaborative Efforts to Preserve Cultural Heritage[edit]

Abstract/description[edit]

Wikisource Loves Manuscripts (WILMA ) program has demonstrated the potential for establishing robust collaborations among heritage stakeholders, guided by Wikimedia communities. Looking at it from a partnership perspective, there's an opportunity to amplify the program's impact by working with external organizations that share a similar commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

This knowledge-sharing lecture will discuss lessons learned from the WILMA pilot in Indonesia to build impactful partnerships with national and international organizations as well as to propose possible partnership approaches that can be undertaken by communities in ESEAP who are interested in conducting their own WILMA project independently (including community members from Malaysia and the Philippines who join the first cohort of WILMA Learning Partner Network). The lecture serves as an illustrative example of how a community-led project can be successfully executed, attracting partners as a result of cross-stakeholder collaboration. This story may inspire future cross-community collaboration and projects among members of the ESEAP hub.
